Attended as a guest of Ashford Rotary Club a dinner at Ashford Manor Golf Club, where they hosted local Paralympian Jessica Hunter & witnessed her skilled demonstration of Boccia. We wish her every success in gaining an Olympic medal later this month.

Brainstorming session with joint agents Savills & Hempton Franks as we conclude investment marketing appraisal for freehold sale of Princes House, Dorchester. Further details to follow shortly.

Tuesday evening at Spelthone Business Forum at Baroosh with smaller turn out but nevertheless a good feel factor with local businesses.

Had to work from home last Wednesday since blocked in due to the Olympic bike road time trials, unbelievable experience to see both Bradley Wiggins & Chris Froome cycle past me and within only 2m away!

Entertained by Clive Marjoram Associates and Bradolin Developments at Headingley Test Match on Thursday and surprisingly only 3 overs lost due to rain. The Carnegie stadium has greatly improved facilities and with an unusual Pavilion which looks like an Oragami sculpture!
Hoping to finalize new letting at unit 2 Pellon Retail Park, Halifax, watch this space.

Played golf at Hampton Court Golf club with Tim Baker of The Milton Group and Matt Brown of Lewis Ellis and can see why they played so well at the latter's corporate golf day at Burhill Golf Club.

Number of agency boards have been ordered for our London offices as opportunities arise in Fulham & Chelsea.

Now members of the local business forum & interest group The Earls Court Society and look forward to participating in future events & meetings. Together with our pending membership of the Kensington & Chelsea Chambers we continue to engage with the local community & business.

Met owner of block of flats and shops in Lillie Road, Fulham and hoping to seek other local & similar type purchases.

Met Duncan Walker, Director of Helical Bar Plc and impressed by their current investment and development pipeline and criteria. Hopefully we will shortly be able to present them with a commercial property opportunity in central London.

Together with our sister company in Dubai we continue to look for blue chip commercial property investments located only in London SW1 and up to £35m lot size.

Atmosphere for the Olympics building up as we commute jointly with stewards and spectators around the tube and south west train networks, also I will experience watching first hand an Olympic event with the road race going past my home this weekend and next Wednesday, can't wait!

Typically wet with sunny periods this week, although did not dampen work spirits as we pick up new investment sales in Dorset and Yorkshire and also new retail instruction in Church Road, Ashford.

At long last brochure for both office buildings at Daten Park, Birchwood, Warrington now agreed and will be available next week.

Looked at possible new instruction of a freehold of mixed retail/residential in Staines upon Thames.

Attended Surrey Chambers of Commerce post AGM evening event at Horsley Towers, East Horsely, what a great venue with its baroque and gothic towers and galleries.

Attended Kensington & Chelsea Chambers "jobs, advice & training fair" at ILEC, Ibis Hotel in Earls Court and have joined the Chamber as part of our local networking with our London office.

Attended and hosted test match at Oval with clients including Tim Seddon, London Director of St Modwen Plc and Gary Lever of CHAPS Ltd and enjoyed lunch at the Brunswick House Cafe.
An amazing historic building that has survived all the high rise and modern development around Vauxhall and the South Bank.

On Friday we hosted a table at the Property Race at Ascot and where a number of auctions to raise funds for childrens charity.

Many thanks for Menzies corporate hospitality last Tuesday before and during the T20 match between Surrey v Sussex.

Thoroughly enjoyable Wednesday afternoon's golf at Ashford Manor Golf club as we also celebrate Chairman of local Chambers, Les Ford's 60th birthday!

Carried out site inspection with Milton Group of industrial investments in Berkshire and Middlesex, which are shortly going to auction.

Viewed larger showroom in Banstead with retailer client for proposed new operation. Details to follow shortly.

This week we have been asked to quote for planning consultancy relating to a shop at Whitton where the retailer wants to get an A2 retail use. Also quoted for schedule of condition relating to new shop lease on behalf of a retailer.

Submitted to large commercial property investments respectively priced at £35m and £15.5m being located in SW3 & SW1 and to our sister company in Dubai. We wait with bated breath.

Attended Ashford Pride meeting at the new Community Centre (formerly occupied by the local community Police) and which is the ground floor of the multiple-story car park. As amendments were agreed to the Mary Portas bid including video & commentary changes.

Enjoyed Surrey Chambers of Commerce breakfast event at Hilton Hotel, Seven Hills, Cobham last Thursday morning. Intimate and attended by local professionals and not single banker in sight!

Hart Brown's annual economy forum at the University of Surrey last Thursday evening was excellent with two out of three guest speakers being both illuminating and entertaining.
Alan McCafferty, MD of John Dennis Coachmakers and Justin Urquart Stewart, Stockbroker and economic commentator , let's follow their mantra and ignore the press and media and be positive and let's exploit the confidence that exists amongst small and local business.
Afterall we now have three shops in Slough and a retail warehouse in Halifax under offer and discovered rental uplifts in London! Also our retailer clients look to acquire news shop leases.

Agreed on behalf of landlord lease renewal and schedule of dilaps at Church Parade, Ashford. Resulting in tenant surrendering 2 bed flat and paying capital compensation to the landlord. The tenant will now get new lease of the ground floor shop only and the landlord will be able to refurbish and relet the flat.

Attended Menzies evening event at their Egham office last Monday to watch England v France Euro football match. Good company and hospitality.

Inspected shops in Reigate and Horsham with retailer client and hope to secure new shop leases. Both towns have vibrant town centres and with strong multiple retail representation.

Had stitches removed from right index finger and then attended Best of Staines event at Soiree, Staines upon Thames.

Marketing of offices at 165 The Broadway, Wimbledon, gains momentum and both dedicated website and e-brochure should be available by end of this month. We will have refurbished office suites between 400 sq.ft. and 4,100 sq.ft. to let on new leases at headline rental of £18.50 psf exclusive.

Made 10 minutes presentation at Shepperton studios last Thursday morning as part of being sponsor for Spelthorne Business Forum. Reminder to all prospective clients that our professional fees are bespoke and therefore can be agreed as either fixed rate or as %? After sustaining 3 stitches to the base of my right index finger as result of attempting home DIY during Bank Holiday, I have finally come to the conclusion that I’m not very good at it. Since I was merely trying to remove a broken ceramic toilet roll holder!

Rather strange to have only 3 working days this week but at least it gave me an opportunity to raise new invoices in respected if completed professional work.

Thoroughly enjoyable meeting last Wednesday evening at Ashford Manor Golf club and where we attended the Ashford Chambers of Commerce quarterly meeting and my colleague Peter Hill was sworn in as the new Treasurer. Congratulations on both his Chambers promotion of the Ashford Pride bid and to Chairman Les Ford on his 60th Birthday. For all local businesses and retailers it really is worth joining the Ashford Chamber, who do a great job in promoting the local economy and events. Had meeting with LLoyd Gash of Blaser Mills who are solicitors based in Staines and Lloyd specialises in property litigation and other property matters. He is very engaging and approachable.

Let's all raise a glass to toast the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, for any company/organisation to have someone at the helm for over 60 years is quite remarkable achievement, particularly when you factoring the major improved social and economic changes during this period. Stability and experience in any line of work cannot be obtained without continuity therefore let us all admire the monarch's sustainability and work ethic over the last 60 years.

We are currently registering with the RICS as Red Book valuers in line with our consultants who are already on the panel of most Banks, Building Society and Finance Houses.

We are still exploring further local marketing since we do not omit any local opportunities.

Great to attend Spelthorne Business Forum event last Tuesday night at Baroosh and to saviour the fact that Staines upon Thames is now a reality. Well done to the forum and local councillors, particularly outgoing local business executive councillor Colin Davis for enhancing the status of Staines upon Thames.

We have completed our appraisal to the owners on alternative uses at industrial estate at Anglesey Road, Burton upon Trent. Hopefully they will now opt for redevelopment into smaller warehouse units including trade counter uses.

Attended Biscotti Business Breakfast event at Park Inn, Heathrow where a greater variety of small businesses were also in attendance.

On a chilly and a cloudy Sunday we were guests of the Mayor of Spelthorne at the Memorial Gardens, Staines and where we experienced and celebrated Staines upon Thames day. Unfortunately our sponsored charity duck did not win the duck race but nevertheless looked resplendent in our corporate co ours. Our duck was also photographed in the local newspaper Staines Informer.

Watching the customary rain on Bank Holiday Monday it's time to reflect on last week.

Rare half day playing golf at RAC, Epsom on an incredibly sunny Tuesday together with business associates. Must remember in future not to try and compete with younger and better holders as I tried to match their drives instead developed wicked hook!

Pitched for a new agency instruction on an restaurant in Chertsey, further details to follow shortly.

This week we joined the Hounslow Chambers of Commerce and looking forwarding to attending future events.

Our duck is decorated in our corporate colours ready for the charity race on the 20th May 2012 We are confirmed as one of Spelthorne Council's Bronze sponsors to celebrate Staines upon Thames day. Look out for our sponsored street sign along the Ashford Road. It will be there for the next 3 years.

Busy week ahead as we have marketing meetings in Wimbledon and central London.

Experienced early part of this week a sunny Burton upon Trent followed by a wet Warrington thereafter a surprisingly comfortable overnight stay at The Premier Inn, Warrington.

Scenic morning drive from Warrington and through the Peak District to reach Sheffield city centre and where I noticed a lot of residential development adjacent to larger office complexes.

Tuesday evening spent at Baroosh, Staines an event held by Spelthorne Business Forum and quick rush home to see on the TV my team Chelsea beat Barcelona in a remarkable semi final.
Any ideas on how I get tickets for me and my son for the final in Munich on the 19th May 2012 are welcome.

Well done to those 16 who attended our 4th curry club lunch at Roshnis, Staines despite the foul weather conditions. Also congratulations to Geoff Chapman of Utility Warehouse for winning our free raffle of a fine bottle of red wine. Next Curry club lunch on Wednesday 27th June 2012 at Roshnis starting at 1pm.

Attended a great Surrey Chambers of Commerce event at Painshill Park, Cobham celebrating the best of British with some fantastic cakes, finger sandwiches, Pimms and good old cuppa of tea.

Check out You Tube and Ashford Pride entry in the government/ Mary Portas competition for winning cash to assist with the regenerating of the High Street (Church Road). Its an uplifting and credible entry which deserves the government's cash.

Green shoots in the commercial property maybe occurring since last week we placed three retail premises under offer, let's hope that the respective solicitors do not frustrate the transactions with any prevarication.

We now have under offer retail warehouse at Halifax Retail Park, also have a restaurant at 302-304 High Street, Slough and shop at Tay Walk, Cumbernauld under offer & on the basis of new leases.

Experienced the Entrepreneur Seminar at Sunbury Golf Club & where we discussed making the most out of your own database and internet marketing tools etc.

Thoroughly enjoyable evening at Denbies Vineyard in Dorking as Menzies celebrate 100 years as Accountants & Auditors. The first class hospitality included a small train journey in the wine cellars, followed by wine tasting and exotic canapés.  I recommend Denbies own red wine label "Redlands".

Discussed on site with the owners possible refurbishment works of offices in Wimbledon Broadway, further details of our appointment to follow shortly.

Attended for the first time the Business Biscotti network event at Park Inn Hotel, Heathrow. Certainly an eclectic selection of both business men and woman. Worth a visit being held ever 3rd Friday morning of the month at the Park Inn Hotel.

Yet again another illuminating evening event held at The Baroosh, Staines by the The Spelthone Business Forum. Staines Upon Thames day is nearly upon us being due on Sunday 20th May 2012. We are arranging for the decorating of our Sponsored Duck for the day's Duck race.

Attended in central London, the Gleeds breakfast seminar on Capital Allowances and gained an understanding of the current legislation & tax rates effecting commercials properties sales & acquisition.

A week in politics is a lifetime & certainly this can be applied to working in property & with many plates of opportunity currently spinning.

We tender for shop agency instruction in Teddington.

Thanks to Harry Jaffer former Mayor of Staines for inviting both James and myself to our first Rotary Club event at The Ashford Manor Golf Club, last Monday. Enjoyable night in good company and an international organization that raises thousands of pounds for various charities.

Tuesday opening of our London office in Earls Court Road above Barclays Bank and where we met a number of local retailers and also saw comedian Paul Whitehouse in a local coffee bar.
Great lunch at Le Beaujolais restaurant and on next table was UKIP leader Nigel Farage and his associates enjoying the French cuisine & wine!

Visited Croydon and where we are hoping to acquire shop in the High Street for clients.
Good to see number of building projects have been re-activated since it is a large London suburb.

James Moores has joined Clarke Nickolls & Coombs in the Agency & Acquisitions department where he assists clients in the disposal and acquisitions of all types of commercial & industrial properties and land. James has worked in the property industry since graduating from the University of Reading in 2008 with a 2:1 in Land Management. After spending two years in Property Management at Badger Holdings he joined CNC Property Fund Management as an Asset Management Surveyor in June 2010.

Visited Feltham Town centre & I can conclude what an impressive regeneration and also with exception of the recent closure of the Peacocks store very few retail voids in the High Street.
However having 4 supermarkets located in the town centre with an Asda, Tesco, Aldi & Lidl will this be sustainable?

Lloyds Bank are in fact willing to lend to small business despite the misleading media and press! I have now met local managers from all the 4 main high street banks and they all have different lending criteria and are not opposed to property lending but of course at higher LTV ratios.

I was asked by Les Ford, Chairman of Ashford Chambers of Commerce to act as his stand in at Spelthorne Council meeting to consider strategy for backing Ashford town centre bid for Mary Portas/ government regeneration grant. Known as "Ashford Pride" strategy details to follow shortly.

I am very impressed by the local councillors commitment to both local business and promotion of the local towns.

After meeting this week with NatWest Bank, they confirmed they will lend locally to small business between £25k and £250k & on  competitive 5- year fixed loans.

Second visit to Scotland
Glasgow & surrounding towns provide warmer weather earlier this week as we undertake second part of our retail feasibility study. Visited the impressive shopping & leisure facilities at Braehead and Silverburn.

Spelthorne networking event
Spelthorne Business Forum event at BP's HQ @ Sunbury on Thames was informative since learn about BP's strategy of upstream @ downstream business and their willingness to engage with local businesses.

Local regeneration 
Held meeting with the Chairman at Ashford Chambers of Commerce & discuss Ashford's town centre entry into the government's/Mary Portas competition of regeneration grant. Consensus on the redevelopment of the town's dilapidated multi-story car park.
